Faces at Ingos

05 Aug 2010 | no comments » Add a comment

This snap reminds me of the old “2 Unlimited” song called Faces. Rememer the lyrics…

All around different faces I see
Some are happy, some in misery..

The women in front is holding her jacket tighter, seems lost, or looking for someone/something, the african lady behind her seems to know her way across, and the weird stare from the 3nd lady on the right hand side seems to say “I know what you did last summer”, with the numerous people in the crowd behind make it interesting. The focus point is the wierd lady ofcourse.

The hippie culture started in Goa in the 60s, and people would make a long journey by special buses from Europe at a days notice to be in Goa. To make some money they started small flea markets which gradually grew where everyone

Snake charmer at Rajasthan

In 1991 the Indian government banned any show featuring snakes with the introduction of a new wildlife protection bill. But here as can be seen is another failed bill. There are around 8,00,000 snake charmers in India who know only this act as a way of earning their bread. This

Troglodyte (Caveman) to “The Thinker”

23 Mar 2010 | no comments » Add a comment

Rodin created “The Thinker” as one of the pieces for his work “The Gates of Hell” which was based on the scenes from the first section called “The Inferno” from “The Divine Comedy” of Dante (The Divine Comedy is an epic poem depicting the soul’s journey towards God through Dante’s travel across Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven). Some argue that “The Thinker” was created to represent Adam who sat and

How does one leave all possessions to live a simple spiritual life. As I look into the eyes of this monk, I see someone at peace with himself. But my peace is got to me by my latest electronic gadgets, be it a mobile, an ipod, speakers or an LCD TV. Do I envy

The innocent artist, explorer, inventor… in a child

03 Feb 2010 | 7 comments » Add a comment

The famous Pablo Picasso once said “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

This probably explains the cubism period of Picasso, where he experimented like a child.

My Jijaji (Brother-in-law) said something I will never forget. My nephew was swaying his head left to right with a huge smile as the wind blew at

Candle light photography. Light source in the frame.

12 Jan 2010 | 2 comments » Add a comment

This shows an example where a low light source is in the frame rather then just the reflected light from the source on the subject. Notice how the viewer attention now alternates between the candle the the person, and since the lamp is more brighter than the subjects face you tend to see the image from its perspective.

Freddie is seen here holding the lamp at Souza Lobo restaurant Calangute.

I once went for a Hindi movie and in one scene right after a murder, on a tree a dead body hung upside down. The camera closed on the face which was pale with the moon light falling on it. The background music was not comfortable at
