Smiling reflections

15 Jan 2013 | 13 comments » Add a comment

I saw her sitting and smiling by herself
I asked what future her smile is cast
“Not future” she said, “but the past, the past..”

We rarely look at the future and smile at moments we are going to live, but always reflect back at the past and smile. This snap is perfect for this thought. Thanks Priya for posing so well!

The past has so many glorious moments.

I remember the time when with very little money

Life: some spices and a pint of beer

29 Nov 2012 | 9 comments » Add a comment

Life is not complex, it just needs flavour, some salt and pepper, and yeah a pint of beer always helps.

Its just another lazy Sunday at Anjuna, at a small sleepy shack, which I have over the years liked spending time at. The waiters are lazy, but I am

A perfect getaway

“Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm – it comes from becoming still – in order to reflect and meditate on our inner wisdom and receive answers. A peaceful heart is one that is free from worry and trouble. It’s becoming quiet so we can look at things quietly so we can more clearly understand them and thus come up with creative solutions. It is learning to live in the present.”

Every once in a while it’s good to break the cyclic

And miles to go before I sleep

09 Oct 2011 | 7 comments » Add a comment

Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, had, towards his later years, kept a book close to him. It was even there at his bedside table as he lay dying. The book was of Robert Frost, and on on one page featuring the poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

The 50mm magic

16 Aug 2011 | 3 comments » Add a comment

If you have bought yourself a canon SLR camera sporting the default 18-55mm lens, and are now wondering which should be the next lens you pick up, I seriously suggest the cheap 50mm f/1.8 lens from canon. The reasons are simple

1. Sharpness
The Canon 50mm f/1.8 is one of the sharpest lens Canon has to offer, some say even sharper than the expensive 24-70mm lens (which is known for sharpness). However I have noticed that at f/2.8 and

A Vagabond for Beauty and Peace

10 Apr 2011 | 3 comments » Add a comment

As to when i shall visit civilization, it will not be soon. I think. I have not tired of the wilderness; rather i enjoy its beauty and the vagrant life l lead, more keenly all the time. I prefer the saddle to the streetcar and star sprinkled sky to a roof, the obscure and difficult trail, leading into the unknown, to any paved highways, and

Splash of life

“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.”

Just a small reminder to everyone, life is too short to hold grudges, hatred, jealousy, anger, resentment, sorrow, grief, pain and whatever else troubling your mind.

When you step into the sea, and you are hit by an unsuspecting wave, which sweeps you off your feet, you yell in terror and excitement as you are droped much further away, you make an

The stare of a Tiger

02 Dec 2009 | 13 comments » Add a comment

No words, no photographs, .. nothing can describe the feeling I got when this 4 year old young tiger stared into my eyes at Ranthambore less then 5 feet away, during my safari trip. I never knew I would be able to see him so close, and although I knew they are big cats, his size
