Forest guard at Ranthambore – Rajasthan, Acrylic on canvas

Forest guard at Ranthambore, Rajasthan

This painting has a special meaning for me and my friend Jonny as this is based on a snap clicked on a safari trip to Ranthambore, Rajasthan. Meeting this forest guard was an important event as he guided our driver in the right direction for tiger spotting. What was bizarre was he was alone in the middle of the forest known to have tigers just holding a stick.

The final output of this painting was never intended to be this way. As I started painting the darker wrinkle lines on his face, I quite liked the idea, and started adding more of them. The sharp contrast in yellow in the hair were to highlight the reflection in the sun, as it is with some parts of his face and hands. The background looked a dull blue, and I experimented with adding the white curves to add to the effect. Was very happy with the final outcome!
