Tonatiuh, Apollo, Titan, Isis and Surya.. what?

Sunset

Sunset

Some days one gets really lucky. Was having a late lunch at Souza Lobo at Calangute, Goa when I decided to click this. The trick is to allow as less light to enter to keep the sky as dark as possible by increasing the shutter speed, as I prefer a more bloody red sky. The sky ofcourse was not as dark when I clicked this. Of Course it helped by darkening it a bit further in Photoshop.

Moments like this make me wonder how our ancestors reacted in the beginning of civilization. For a non scientific mind this would be the presence of a Divine entity, showing off His mighty power. Many religions are somewhat based around the Sun, and even the concept of God and Devil come from the concept of light and darkness. Tonatiuh, Apollo, Titan, Isis and Surya are all just different names representing the Sun God in different religions Aztec to Hinduism. Mahatma Gandhi once rightly said,

“When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in worship of the Creator”

  1. From FB: I’ve always maintained that the vastness of the ocean has the power to absorb anything and make it melt away…it’s humbling to stand on the ocean’s edge and be reminded of what a small part we play in the grand scheme of things. And on days when I need to find answers, I always find myself sitting and listening to the wisdom of the ocean…… See Morenothing more soothing than the sound of the waves…particularly at sunset when the water is bathed in glorious light.. I like the way your photo and quote capture all of these sentiments…send it my way via email please..
