Twilight at Agonda beach – Chattai

20 Apr 2013 | 4 comments » Add a comment

It’s funny how modernization evolution and lifestyle adaptations take away something we crave the most… calmness.

My first visit to Agonda was a bit disappointing, it did not feel as exciting as Colomb beach, or Palolem. However a few days later I landed up on this beach to spend a weekend.

If isolation is what you seek, this is exactly where

Kerala backwaters

I was prepared for the worst when we decided to spend some time on a house boat (6 hours) in the backwaters of Kerala. People gave mixed opinion about it and in the end I was totally confused if its good or not but decided to go ahead anyways.

My friend’s father took the trouble of finding a decent contact and booked the trip for us when we were in Chengannur. We landed up at the house boat at Alleppey, and saw nice seating arrangements at the

“Why do we sit on the wire? Just to feel the power” said the little bird to the wide-eyed boy, “Its insane, you should try it sometimes”.

As we drifted across the backwaters on the house

Flowers – A macro look

“The earth laughs in flowers.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Although I had the 100mm macro lens from Canon for some time, I finally got a chance to use its macro capabilities when I was holidaying at Munnar.

Outside my cottage was a lovely patch of flowers, as

The alluring land of Munnar

If Kerala is “God’s Own Country” then Munnar is surely the capital.

The few snaps I saw of Munnar before the trip did no justice, I was unprepared for what hit me.

The first glimpse of Munnar was a moment we won’t forget, our jaws dropped, as we gasped at the

A Simple Path

My calm peaceful book reading at Palolem is interrupted by laughter. I look up to see fishermen joke amoung themselves. They seem idle, as some smoked a bidi, while another waved his hands in the air describing some weird scene, while others looked at him with crooked smile.

The simplicity of the whole setup, and the idleness (for some) of the fishermen as they lazed

The caterpillar crisis

26 Nov 2012 | 6 comments » Add a comment

As humans evolved, so did crisis. There are many of them and occur at different stages, and I guess some are normal, some not so….

- Identity crisis: Who am I? What am I doing?

- Personality crisis: I feel like a man in a woman’s

If you wish to tun back time a bit and see the traditional Goan-Portuguese atmosphere, Divar Island is the best bet. And yeah you go there in style, on a Goan Ferry. Divar is connected by 3 points all via a ferry. Our drive through the small island is a nice experience, with lush green paddy

THERE is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more

Lord Byron (George Gordon)

I stood there high up on the edge of the cliff. Tall lush green grass, few raindrop, eagles flying at eye level, and the sight of the vast sea below, ruthlessly

Monsoon beach

20 Aug 2012 | no comments » Add a comment

Experiencing the rains at the beach is perhaps not something everyone enjoys. Mucky sand, no shelters in the vast open expanse, and isolated. Yeah does it make sense?

Well Henry Beston wrote when he was spending time at a beach cottage,

“The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach”.

Although not in primeval wood, the wind still sings
