“When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.”

Yoda in Star Wars

I tried to create the light & shadow portrait which gives a perspective of the clean and dark side of a person. Thanks Priya, for patiently waiting while I adjusted the lights every few mins and clicked away. Your pose was brilliant and could not have been more spectacular.

For those who want to recreate this, its very simple, please follow steps below.

Requirements: 1-3 table lamps, camera

The rebel

Quite some time back my friend Jonny made me listen to a preamble to ”The river” by Bruce Springsteen, I loved it so much that I had been hunting for a snap to go with it. This snap of my friend Persy goes well with it (Thanks Persy for the pose). Below is the preamble, but before that, this

“The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter – often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter – in the eye.”

I have always wanted to capture eyes properly. However on many occasions I have failed to do so. They were either blurred (A good portrait is one in which

Solitary at sea

There’s something about the water – that solitary kind of peaceful feeling. You’re on Earth but not quite.
John C. Reilly

My perfect holiday is always at the beach.. I try to avoid a place which is packed with people and rather choose a more secluded spot. There is nothing more

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think

I trust in Thee

Chintu was trying his best not to give me a smile, was deep asleep, and even as the mother held his hands and shook it, he was least interested to pose for the snap I was trying to click. But without his smile itself he looks very sweet, and his small hands holding his moms thumb shows the bonding and unconditional trust right from the start.

I remember a nice mothers day card I once read.

“A mother holds her childrens hands for a while… their hearts forever”

Black and white photographs are classic. They have a way of expression and they sometimes look much better then thier colored version. The same is true for this snap.
Robert Frank (American photographer) once said.
“Black and white are the colors of photography
