In Kullu. Saw this and could not resist. I know I act silly at times. But I thought it would make a nice wallpaper. Have never used it I must admit.

Near temple dedicated to a demon in Kulu

20 Mar 2009 | no comments »

This was in Kullu, we were near a temple dedicated to a demon (a good one) called Gadotkach who was the son of Bhima the 2nd of the Pandava brothers (of the Mahabharatha, for those who do not know).

Rohtang pass – Mountains

20 Mar 2009 | no comments »

I saw snow for the first time at Rohtang pass, although I could not enjoy it much having a broken foot, which meant I could not wear protective shoes. Was sitting in the car while my friends played in the show, asking the chaiwalla (tea guy!) to keep on making trips every 5 mins and serve me hot tea! I just could not bear the cold temperature and the altitude.

View from Rohtang Pass

Doesn’t it look like a scene from Indiana Jones movie where he is searching for a path to a secret temple high up in the mountains. This pass by the way is suppose to be an ancient trade route. ”Rohtang” derives its name from a Persian word which translates to “pile of dead bodies”, supposedly a very dangerous route.

Apricots

Although we were in the same country we felt we were in a different part of the world altogether. Apricots, plums, cherries, strawberries. We ate so much, very sweet and you dont get them in Goa. I remember we got a big box of cherries and within 2 days it was all over. Hmm.. I blame Rutuja for eating the maximum.

Way to Rohtang Pass

Dont remember ever getting up very early during work days, but this was a holiday, we started dead early to go to Rotang pass. We stopped at a place for hot tea, I think it was me, screaming for it as it was unbearably cold.

We finally reached Manali, and rushed to our rooms, The windows were huge and the view from the place was awesome. And we cheepos managed to get this awesome place, very clean and good food, for just Rs 4 per day (to translate it in other currencies Rs 4 = £ 0.05 = 0.06€ = $0.08), its a guest house and hence the rates were subsidized. Courtesy Priya’s mom.
